Motion Design

A market offering for a personalized service that augments the purchasing experience for first time home buyers by harnessing every channel imaginable to assuage the process, cultivating a personal relationship between lender and buyer.  This project had one major difficulty: a video was already in progress and they were at a standstill. I took over the project and led a team four through a rewrite, set up feedback loops, as well as, organized meetings for review and  sign-offs along an accelerated scope timeline.

The Storyboard

After finishing the storyboard (pictured above at the halfway point), I then presented in front of stakeholders, consisting of the creative director, lead content strategist, MarTech and Marketing solutions leads.  I had a day turnaround to update the storyboard with the new feedback. and sent that update out for review via cloud (no need for a meeting there!), so that they could comment, if needed in real-time as I set about the work of setting a meeting with our visual artist to lock down the look and feel.

Video Look and Feel

The visual designer created more digital assets each according to specifications on color, size, etc I provided based on the story flow.  Earlier we had only been designing in grayscale for the initial reviews, to keep the stakeholders more on defining the story, and not worrying about colors schemes or gradients.

Composited screens in After Effects

With us getting sign-off from the stakeholders, I set about bringing the style frames into After Effects where the bulk of my production work would be done, all the while maintaining a close distance to my visual designer in the event we needed another vector asset. Next up was the animatic--this is basically to showcase pacing; we had to make sure the tone and mood of the story was kept in sync with the voice-over.  Once that sign off was given I ordered some takeout for some of the team and went about full production.  Once the style frames and animatics are done, the rest is just patient and persistent production on my part.  I put into circulation an intake form for motion projects, internally, introducing a way to work across domains within the company, which in turn opened up another avenue to potentially securing more contracts.
